About Nail Care

Nail Care is a simple foot care service which you can purchase at reasonable cost. Nail Carers are also trained to cut finger nails.

Birmingham Settlement makes sure that each Nail Carer is:

• CRB checked, trained at NVQ Level 2, properly insured and has signed up to a contract of standards

Birmingham Settlement is the coordinating agency which works on behalf of all the partners - they:

• Process the registration of Nail Carers
• Work closely with the Nail Care Steering Group to ensure effective service development
• Handle complaints
• Respond to general enquiries
• Supply instruments to Nail Carers

This service has been developed in partnership with:

• NHS South Birmingham Commissioners
• South Birmingham Community Health Podiatry Service
• Birmingham City Council
• Service representatives from Birmingham Older People’s Reference Group and Birmingham Advisory Council for Older People
• Clinical Practitioners
• Carers and
• The Hair, Beauty and Complimentary Therapies lecturing team from James Watt Campus of Birmingham Metropolitan College, Birmingham
